Moody Blues

The rock band The Moody Blues was formed in England, in 1964. The current lineup includes Graeme Edge, Justin Hayward, and John Lodge. They are mostly famous for such hits as “Nights In White Satin”, “Question”, and “I Know You’re Out There Somewhere”. When they just started out, The Moody Blues were mostly playing rhythm and blues. Their first single “Steal Your Heart Away” immediately made its way to the British Charts. But the real success came to the band after the release of “Go Now!”. , which helped their debut album The Magnificent Moodies get good reviews from the critics. However, the following singles weren’t as successful. The band went through manager and lineup changes.

In 1967, The Moody Blues signed a contract with Deram Records and released their second studio album, Days of Future Passed. It was a successful, reaching the 27th spot on the UK Albums Chart and the 3rd spot on Canadian Albums chart. The album contained the band’s most successful song “Nights In White Satin”, which topped US Cashbox Chart, Canadian and New Zealand charts. The next several albums featured a different art music genre. The music was becoming more complicated and symphonic, which didn’t interfere with the band’s success. It was becoming more and more popular in the UK and abroad. After releasing several successful LPs, the band went on a long hiatus from 1974 until 1978. Upon returning, the band released the album Ocatve, which was a big hit, getting platinum certifications in the USA and Canada. It reached the 6th spot on UK Albums Chart.

In 1981, the band released Long Distance Voyager. In that album, the band members tried to make their sound more contemporary. It topped Billboard 200 and stayed there for three weeks. It was the most successful The Moody Blues’ album after the reunion. The band released 16 studio albums and 24 compilation albums. The members continue to work on their music careers and perform live.
